Letting Go, 2024, hand-dyed cotton, 2’x2’
"Letting Go" explores the tension between control and surrender through experimental textile dyeing. By embracing unpredictability in pole wrapping, folding, and rubberbanding techniques, I challenged my instinct to predict and control outcomes. Each piece embodies multiple layers of process, where controlled hand-stitching interplays with the spontaneous nature of dye migration. The resulting patterns invite viewers to engage in a cloud-gazing-like experience, discovering organic forms and animal shapes within the abstract compositions. This body of work represents both a technical exploration in textile manipulation and a personal meditation on releasing expectations, allowing the process itself to guide the final form.
